Welcome to Gatwitch Records

Gatwitch Records has played a major role in the international music career of Emmanuel Jal, Lam Tungwar and now an upcoming Southern Sudanese artist, Nyaruach. We have taken a prominent Kenyan musician, Juliani, to the height of the local hip hop sensation. The company has a well established media, social media, corporate and NGO networking channels in East Africa, UK and the United States.

Gatwitch stands for "child of the land" in Nuer, a language of a Nilotic tribe in Southern Sudan. The music/media house was founded in 2007 by a former child soldier and now an internationally acclaimed hip hop artist and human rights activist, Emmanuel Jal. When choosing a name for his company, Jal wanted something that not only captured his spirituality, but was also encompassing of his culture, heritage and dreams.
